Salisbury Mills Woman Leads Police on Pursuit Through Newburgh

On Tuesday at approximately 1:55pm a motor vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Route 17k and Route 300 in the Town of Newburgh. A pickup truck that was towing a trailer struck a minivan. As the pickup was attempting to flee the scene it also struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was not injured.

A bystander followed the pickup and called 911.

While the bystander was following the pickup it struck another vehicle in the area of 456 Broadway. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries. The pickup fled that scene as well and continued on Broadway before turning onto Prospect Street where it failed to stop for City of Newburgh Police.

Officers were able to slow the vehicle to a stop in the area of Liberty Street and Gidney Avenue.

As officers attempted to place the driver into custody the vehicle moved forward causing damage to a city police car. In total, 3 City of Newburgh Police vehicles and 1 Town of Newburgh Police vehicle sustained damage during the incident.

One officer sustained a minor laceration from the glass that had been broken out of the driver’s side window. He was treated and released.

The driver was identified as 26-year-old Salisbury Mills resident Tiffany Foote.

According to Lieutenant Dan Cameron, from the City of Newburgh Police Department, Foote’s license has 10 suspensions on it.

She has been charged with the following:

Reckless Endangerment 1st – D Felony
Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident – Infraction
Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident – Misdemeanor
Unlawfully Fleeing an Officer 3rd degree – Misdemeanor
Criminal Mischief 3rd degree (2 counts) – Felony
Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st – Felony
Reckless Driving – Misdemeanor

Charges in the Town of Newburgh are pending.

Police dispatchers were able to contact bus companies and schools in the city of Newburgh and notify them of the incident.

Along with City and Town of Newburgh Police, State Police assisted with patrol units and a helicopter.

No civilian cars or civilians were struck or injured during the pursuit. All others involved prior to police involvment suffered minor injuries only.
